California AB 628: Landlords Must Now Provide a Refrigerator & Stove

Effective January 1, 2026, California law AB 628 requires every rental unit to include a working refrigerator and stove for any lease that is new, renewed, or amended after that date. Month-to-month tenancies are effectively covered now. If a landlord-supplied appliance is recalled, it must be repaired or replaced within 30 days.
