Edge of filter tears clothing

The edge of the filter became distorted and catching anything from tank top straps to the edges of bed linens. Ive come to the dryer to find 75 of the linens are wrapped up together and not dry as a result. Ive spent lots of time unraveling clothes to just get it off the filter.

Plastic warps after a while causing clothes and other items to get caught. I have had to throw away shirts and sheets. Ive had no other problems with the dryer and like it but should t have to replace the filter every 2-3 years.

Wow this is awful. It has ruined so many of my tank tops and pajamas it pulls everything with a string and Ive had to trash my clothes. It looks like the edge has melted or something so it sticks out. FIX THIS

I am having the same issue as everyone else. This is the 2nd filter ive had thst has resulted in clothes either becoming ripped or tangled.
Frusrrating that i am now ordering this again because it broke again.

I havent ever replaced a lit filter 40 years of laundry until I bought this LG dryer less than 3 years ago. The filters are faulty and this is my 3rd time replacing the filter. Will not purchase LG in the future

This review is for the OEM filter that came with the dryer.The frame of the lint filter can impact free lint in the holder and pack it down below where the lint filter is designed to fit. An eighth-inch is all it takes to prevent the filter from seating correctly leaving the top ears exposed to catch clothing. I used a vacuum with a long thin attachment and the packed-in lint came up easily and the filter seated down just fine after that. BTW: There is a soft but definite snap when the filter is pushed down into the fully seated position. Whenever that snap is not felt or the ears of the filter do not fit flush then the pocket where inte filter fits should be visually checked for a layer of packed in lint blocking the fit.

This lint screen is a very poor design by LG. For as much as the dryer costs I do expect better. Major problems with this dryer is the lint screen should sit flush within its housing but because it never did everything gets caught on it especially sheets they twist around so bad its torn ruin really expensive Boland brand Pottery barn sheet sets. I wont even replace this with the same design. Im going to buy a better one

It works for the LG Dryer we own. Overall the design is odd and requires using a vacuum to clean the inside of the drier every so often but as a filter it works as intended.

Really worth buying it I had this broken for a while and I didnt realize until I had a problem with the plastic case on top the mesh. Though the cost of the mesh is little bit high it is working great.

Weve been using this new filter for several months now. It works just like the original one. This is why it is important to buy OEM parts from the maker. These filters eventually start to warp for lack of a better term. The new one fits correctly. It is important to also clean lent from frame that holds the filter .

I have not purchased a replacement yet but we had the problem showing up suddenly where clothes are ruined by getting caught on the filter. Our problem was the lint filter was not seated all the way down in the holder because of excessive lint build-up. Now that Ive cleaned out the lint the filter goes all the way down into the dryer. If I had just replaced the lint filter without clean things out Im sure I would have the same problem. Ill try to post a follow up after Ive replaced the filter.

We have the same issue as many others leaving reviews of the lint trap snagging and ruining clothes. When I contacted LG support on Facebook they said I should either buy a new filter which is already well known not to fix the problem or have a technician come check out the problem. With how many issues have already been reported I asked for what the issue is and how its fixed but the support team wouldnt provide any information other than having a technician come out. I wont be purchasing another LG product and advising others to avoid as well.

Like almost everyone is saying here this dryer destroys clothes. I thought that there was something that I was doing wrong with drying our clothes but after reading review here its apparent that this is just a dryer defect that needs to be fixed. I have lost/damaged dozens of pairs of clothing using this dryer. How is it possibly to create a dryer with such a terrible defect?

Just as others have stated. And Im astonished to have to find out via a review site. My wife and I have lost probably 100 pieces of clothes over the last few years. Weve had to resort to using tape to keep the lint trap compressed during a cycle. This constitutes a pretty major blunder by the design team over at LG. While an oddity for LG products. Of which we own 4. This is still a massive inconvenience and a huge hit to the pocketbook.

We bought a replacement thinking something was wrong with ours. Boy was I wrong. We have had our dryer for 8 years and that filter has cost me numerous items. I cant even put anything with a strap in it. I quit buying spaghetti straps because they always get ruined. I literally had wore a dress once and on the first time drying it the strap got caught and ripped. Now here I am needing to buy another replacement to try to cut up like in the video to fix my problem. Pretty disappointing.

VERY disappointed with this filter It doesnt fit well and snags clothes. When it snags the at the corner of the screen it then twists the clothes The screen needs to sit lower in the dryer with corners fitting better instead of sitting slightly up. This is the 4th dryer screen Ive had to purchase. I will not buy another LG washer and dryer set again.

The filter wont stay down low enough to be sub-flush to the housing. It catches clothes and has ripped numerous items. We pulled a wad out today where almost every item in the dryer was tangled together.

Filter top corner sticks up a bit and catches clothes. Then the clothes twist terribly with the drum and some will rip or be destroyed. Filter gets 1 star. Dryer gets 4

I have had to buy replacement filters for my LG dryer because I have had numerous items clothes sheets etc get hung on the corner and twist ruining many many expensive clothes sheets and other items Very costly I also am constantly removing the lint filter and vacuuming out from under it to make sure it sits down properly but once something gets hung on it it is warped for good. This is a very flawed part that should be changed. Would not buy another one because of where the lint filter is located.

My LG washer has been destroying clothes for over a year.
My wife decided to remove the lint filter and used a flash light to look inside the housing where the lint filter goes.
To our surprise we found lint stuck inside causing the filter to raise a 1/4 of an inch.
We removed all of the lint using a coat hanger and a vacuum with an adapter to stick inside the cavity.
Now the filter sits flush.
I hope this helps everyone having the same issues with their lint filter.
Once a week you should clean the lint filter so this may reduce the lint going to the bottom of the housing.

The lint filter that came with the dryer doesnt sit right and inside the filter pocket. My clothes constantly get caught on the edges and the clothes start to twist around each other in the dryer until something finally tears. After reading all the negative reviews I now see Im not the only one experiencing this problem. Before I read the reviews on the LG website though I purchased another lint filter on Amazon from a third party. The new lint filter did the exact same thing Leads me to believe that the pocket that the filter sits in is the one that isnt right. Either way its poorly engineered and literally a waste of money every time a piece of clothing gets ruined Ive also learned that unless Im not home I dont leave the dryer on because if Im not home to check on the clothes in the dryer and see if they are getting tangled up on the edges of the lint filter everything would be ruined when I got back home As a matter of fact Im drying clothes right now and just pulled my clothes off the lint dryer again and there are torn pieces of clothing on it. SO SO FRUSTRATING Am I supposed to go buy a new dryer because the lint filter is ruining my clothes??

- I have the same problem the right corner of filter was damaged because it didnt sit right and would constantly catch and damage clothes. I purchased a new top and prewashed before wearing and it destroyed top before I could wear. I came here to purchase new filter but seeing such horrible reviews I decided to check them out and now I realize its a universal problem

Ive had this dryer for 4.5 years and its been great except for the filter not fitting well. I started to get the same problems as others with the right corner sticking up and snagging clothes. The root cause is the filter doesnt fit well and allows lint to collect under it take a look inside where the filter fits. It is this accumulation that causes the filter to stick out and snag clothes. Clear the mess out see picture and the filter doesnt stick out. I think its a design flaw not the fit of the filter it seems that lint falls off the filter and builds up?

I had this dryer for about 9 years and continue to have the same issue with the bad design flaw of the filter. It doesnt sit flush the sharp edges stick out and it destroys clothing. Ive replaced the filter before but same problem over time. I reached out on social media and Im getting a non solving run around. Just send me a replacement filter I should not have to keep buying these. By contrast I have a much older unit by another company and have NEVER had any issue like this. Stand behind your products LG. You can see from reviews everyone has the same problem. I will NEVER purchase another LG appliance. Very disappointed with CS.

Weve had our dryer for 3 years and Im about to have to replace my FIFTH dryer filter. When the filter is fully seated it works ok although the endpoints still snag clothes with straps or strings. Even after a full vent and tube cleaning it still doesnt sit flush with the cavity. At this point the clothes are getting so caught up that the filter itself is being bent and in one case broken by the weight of all the clothes snagged on its end point.

The dryer worked fine for the first few months but then it started eating my clothes - clothing tightly wound around each other and pants and shirts ruined after repeated ironing and re-wash. At first I thought it was me but it has happened twice in the last few weeks and after some sleuthing my husband and I have determined that the lint trap is warped and catching the clothing. Im going to purchase a replacement trap but Im afraid this is going to happen again.

I have had this dryer for two years and would never recommend it to anyone. The lint filter has destroyed multiple items of clothing and snagged my towels. Clothes get caught on the corner of the filter and get ripped. I clean the filter after each use and clean the cavity with a lint brush.
