Early failure and poor service

I bought the refer in 2016 it failed three weeks ago I called LG they dispatched a tech who arrived a week later he diagnosed and ordered parts we have not seen him since. We lost all frozen food and most refrigerated . Hence the low rating .

I have this refrigerator for a year and 2 months. There are actual cracks on the inside walls. I purchased the warranty and I thought I did the right thing. Well I called lg warranty and they told me thats not covered. How can a cracked wall on a refrigerator not be covered. Thats ridiculous. I hope someone in high places sees this. Your people on the phone blew me off. Terrible customer service

5 year refrigerator

As others have pointed out this is a 5 year refrigerator. I did purchase the extended warranty but was a few months after it expired. Always had a whining sound from new but dont know if this was part of the reason it died. Unfortunately there arent a lot of refrigerators this size to pick from. I own all lg appliances for my home and cottage so hoping the rest have a longer life.

I actually bought this refrigerator 5 years ago on 09/19/2018 and it was delivered on 09/28/2018.I am very disappointed in both the product and LG. A few months ago I had to replace the ice maker. A few weeks ago I had to replace the compressor the condenser and the evaporator. This refrigerator was out of warranty by a little more than 2 weeks. Although the parts were covered for 7 years the labor was not. I was charged $581 for labor costs. I appealed to LG to see if they would refund me for the labor costs as it was only just out of warranty. I received a text from them telling me that according to their records my refrigerator was out of warranty by 2 months and did I have a copy of the receipt to send to them. I sent the copy of the receipt but never heard any more from them. I think LG should be embarrassed to put their name to such a poor quality product. A 5 year old refrigerator should not need to be totally rebuilt in the words of the repairman I will never buy another LG product and I will tell my family and friends to stay away from LG

The refrigerator worked perfectly for 3 years then nothing. Opened the door one morning and a whole fridge / freezer full of food is warm. A lot to pay for a fridge that only lasted 3 years. The compressor comes on for a few minutes then stops. Apparently this is a problem with this company

I will never buy another LG. The one I bought 2 1/2 years ago died 2 weeks ago. I am sorry but a fridge should last longer. No one would help us. I was told by a dealer you are lucky to get 3 to 6 years out of one. My last fridge lasted me 22 years.

Bought this fridge 6 weeks ago. I must say that we are very happy with it so far. The finish is beautiful and easy to take care of. The capacity for fresh food is unbelievable. Our fresh veggies stay crisp and and the temp inside remains at 37F as we purchased a thermometer to be sure The freezer is huge and easy to access from the bottom. Great design but poor performance

I bought my LG refrigerator 3 years ago because I loved the design. However I am very disappointed in its performance. When I had had it about 18 months the icemaker had to be replaced. Now the refrigerator does not work at all. I filed a claim 2 weeks ago on September 4 2023. Fortunately I purchased the extended warranty but little good that has done me. I am still waiting for it to be repaired.

LG French Door Refrigerator Failed Compressor

My compressor went out and the fridge and freezer no longer worked. I called LG customer service and they had a repair man call me back in 6 business days. He was polite quick and on time. He came the very next day and replaced the compressor in a little over an hour and now my fridge is back to cooling and freezing and Im so happy

We have only had this refrigerator for almost 2 years and it already broke down. Lost all of our food and we were without a working fridge for 6 days. Literally living out of a small cooler for 6 days. It was fixed on the 6th day and we were told it could happen again If we dont clean behind the refrigerator at least a couple times a year. Weve never had to clean behind our fridge in our entire lives..

I bought the refrigerator and a LG stove 5 years ago. They have been nothing but problems First week I had stove it blew up. 2 years after having refrigerator it stopped working after finally getting someone to work on it it was repaired only for the same part to go again a few weeks ago. No one within 125 miles to repair. Needless to say we put the oth in the junk pile and bought new American made. Your appliance line sucks What a headache

Great refrigerator when it works.

All was good with the refrigerator for 4 years. We liked how roomy it for our space and all the assigned bins were just enough for our use. Maintaining the perfect temperature while it works. Right when 5th Year was running the fridge broke down and was not cooling anymore. All the food inside had to be dumped. Online research says the linear compressor lg uses is known to be faulty. I wish I had checked when buying it. It is covered under warranty and it was replaced free of charge too but it took 10days for them to finally replace it. Not gonna buy groceries everyday and cook so ended up eating out during those days. With all those money spent out I seriously considered buying another fridge during that time. In short all is good except the time taken to get it repaired. Covering expenses not enough. Timing is important too. Thanks for keeping up with the rant. Hope this was useful.

What we think is the compressor has failed but no one has looked at it yet Ordered parts sight unseen for a January repair Because everyone wants to have no refrigerator for the holidays On top of losing all the groceries and frozen food you already had Ugh

We had the refrigerator for one week and it started making this awfully loud noise that wakes us up in the middle of the night. It is very unpredictable when it happens and LG has not gotten back with us to figure out this issue in a very timely manner.

This fridge works perfectly for our small kitchen. It fits more than I realized and I love it The smudge proof effect really works and I love the darker color of this stainless steal. I wish the doors glided open a little better but Id probably bang it up against something if it didnt have that. Overall great purchase and no regrets

I purchased this refrigerator almost 5 years ago. Since then Ive had 2 door gaskets fail. Small dents or depressions magically appeared on all 3 doors and I know it wasnt anyone in the household caused them. Had filed a claim behind it and was told we dont cover cosmetic issues. But the just about 3 weeks ago it stopped cooling and we lost about 600.00 worth of food. Filed a claim. Here it was the compressor failed. Tech replaced with a redesigned one The factory one had a flaw. Found out there was a class action lawsuit filed for just this problem. This the 2nd LG refrigerator Ive owned. The first one was deemed unrepeatable with a year and refunded me the purchase price. Also I asked the Tech that replaced the compressor about those mysterious depressions. He told me that there are voids in the door insulation after they spray it in the the door panel. Just wondering how long am I going to have this one.

Perfect size for my space

We went from a 17 year old two refrigerator to a three door French refrigerator. Love having the split doors as it takes up less space when opening. I like the adjustable glass shelves for my tall items. Glad there is a beep if the doors are not fully shut. Getting used to make sure the door shuts tight.

2018 Model Didnt Last -- You are warned.

Unreliable LG refrigerator compressors led to a class action settlement earlier this year. The class action didnt include people who like us bought this model in May 2018 and discovered a dead compressor in September 2022. No worries though because there is a 10 year warranty on the compressor right? Well lets look at that. LG-approved technicians are the only ones who can examine the unit and make sure the warranty is honored by LG -- but where are they located? Some are surely available in each states largest city right? Wrong. We live within 20 miles of our states largest city but the only LG-approved technicians are not located anywhere near there: one is 2 hours away the other is 1.5 hours away. Hiring one is financially unworkable given the cost of transportation on top of labor. It is unacceptable customer service -- for us the warranty was totally useless. Our advice is to run from anyone selling LG refrigerators unless they can show things have changed.

I received my refrigerator in Jan 2021 It is now Aug 2022 The 1 week of August we were away for a weekend of fishing when we got home our appliance has quit working Luck for me I had another freezer just for meat that had room in it for most of frozen veg and ect. But still needed a refergatot for stuff that is not frozenI called LG Several times and gave them information they wanted but not very fast getting back to you The gave me after a week a list of Lg service people but they were all out of my service area so i had to buy a small mini fridge to keep lunch meat. eggs. and ect because it was too expensive eating out all time. It going on 3 weeks now and there still deciding what to do the only good thing is the compressor is under warranty for 10 years and the service guys say seeing its not cooling top and bottom that is what it is 90 of the time.

Bought this 4 years ago and it stoped working. They fixed it and the tec told me to throw the part in the trash it was very heavy. When they came to pick up my trash they took the part out of the trash and threw it on my lawn.

Havent had the refrigerator long and all is well so far. Love the size as we have a finite space only 30 in which to place the appliance. Fits well works well plenty of space compared to the 12-cubit foot we had. So far would purchase again and recommend.
